Quick guide
Ask ChatGPT to play a role: Assigning a role to ChatGPT helps it understand your expectations and encourages it to give the kinds of responses you want. For example, you could say “Act like my Spanish teacher” or “Be my leadership coach”.
Provide context: The more context you provide, the better ChatGPT’s responses will be. For example, instead of saying “What is the weather like?”, you could say “What is the weather like in Paris today?”.
Offer examples of your desired results: Providing examples of the kinds of responses you want can help ChatGPT understand your expectations and generate more accurate responses.
Experiment: Don’t be afraid to try different things with your prompts. The AI is capable of many tasks, from writing poems and stories to generating code and answering trivia questions. Experiment with different types of prompts to see what the AI can do.
Remember that writing prompts for AI is a skill that improves with practice. Do not be discouraged if your first few prompts do not produce the results you want.
Tips
Use double quotes: Enclosing your prompt in double quotes helps ChatGPT understand that it is a single unit of text and not multiple prompts.
Refer to other sources: If you want ChatGPT to provide information from a specific source, include that information in your prompt. For example, you could say “According to the World Health Organization, what are the symptoms of COVID-19?”.
Include the length of the response: If you want ChatGPT to generate a response of a specific length, include that information in your prompt. For example, you could say “Write a 100-word summary of this article”.
Example
{"Role":"Financial Analyst", "Task":"Prepare a financial report for Q3 20XX for [company].", "Completion":"A comprehensive financial report for Q3 20XX for [company], including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis."}
